Imagine learning that not only are you a clone, you are the clone of one of the near powerful drug lords in the earth. You could have anything you want, order around whoever you desire and do whatever yous want so long every bit your original gives permission. It would be like a paradise. Would yous be able to suffer the hatred that comes with it?

Enter Matteo Alacran(Matt) clone of El Patron, the 142 year old drug lord and ruler of the country known as Opium. In a time to come where cloning is a simple and mutual practice, Matt lives on an opium producing poppy farm nestled in betwixt the U.Due south and Aztlan(formerly Mexico). He spends the first vi years of his life living inside a small cottage, never allowed to leave or exist seen by anyone except for Cecelia, his caretaker. I day, Matt is over taken by the urge to collaborate with a few kids he sees outside of his dwelling, which leads him to be taken to the Big House. At start everyone is curious most him until they see the words "Belongings of the Alcaran Estate" etched into his pes. Matt is confused when everybody's personality does a 180 and he is forced to live in a spare closet, treated like a dog under his new caretaker Rosa. Unless she is aroused, Matt is inappreciably spoken to and eventually he stops talking completely. He is stuck playing with insects and sawdust until he is summoned before his original, El Patron. As Rosa is dragged off for the abuse and mistreatment of Matt, El Patron begins to bond with his clone. After that day, Matt is given a room in the Big House, gaining an education and a life of luxury. The only trouble is that the residue of the Alacran family treats him like a wild brute, serving as a constant reminder that he is nothing but a filthy clone. At historic period 14, Matt discovers the truth every bit to why he was created, when El Patron's heart begins to neglect him. After learning that he is nothing more than a spare parts bin for El Patron Matt does the unthinkable and escapes. Still, Matt has little knowledge of the rest of the world thank you to his upbringing within of Opium, which El Patron had forced remain like the globe he grew upwardly in a century ago. Can Matt over come this challenge and observe a safe place to brainstorm his new life every bit a human being or will he ever exist a filthy clone belonging to Opium and its seemingly immortal ruler?
Throughout his adventure, Matt learns that sometimes in life you have to alive for yourself. Matt had spent about of his life considered property of the Alacran'south. He was only living to provide organs for El Patron and nothing more. Nonetheless, when he escaped, he realized that he was his own person and could practice things like music and anything else he wanted.

I chose this book because I wanted to meet how clones are handled in this compared to the residue of the science fiction genre. Information technology definitely lived up to my expectation with clones that are by law required to have there minds destroyed, just so people can harvest body parts from homo being without being seen equally evil.

You should definitely read this if you similar scifi and clones. This would as be enjoyable for anyone who loves a story well-nigh someone coming to terms with who they are and where they fit in the world.

ENGAGING, CAPTIVATING, AND Middle STOPPING

I was really amazed later reading this book i'm usually non one that is much in to fiction at all. I'm more of the kind of person that reads war stories and history books because i detect them very captivating and they keep my attention pretty well. So i was not expecting for this book to keep me entertained. I could have never been more wrong this book was engaging it had a very amazing story from the details of how mat was raised and the kind of secrecy that was around everything when he was younger and learning. To when mat mat and he mentor tam lin started going to the fiddling oasis where he would tell him stories. I would recommend this book to young adults because of how captivating it is and how information technology really breaks upwards mats life in to sections and in my opinion is very easy to follow i would also recommend it to people that have a fascination reading books where the globe is very different from ours because it is fix in a world where the drug trade is king and there is a sense of anarchy to it. In a way it is kind of like the the hunger games because of the whole broken upwardly world but at the same time they are pretty different and have ii very unlike stories.

Maybe it'due south considering I listened instead of read it, peradventure it's because I'm just not the biggest fan of dystopian societies, but this volume is non a "must read" merely it is an enjoyable easy to follow story line. I enjoyed the storyline and the thought of what the demand for immortality can bulldoze one to do. But more than that, I think the real dazzler in the story line is understanding biology vs. environment and how that causes someone to develop their personality and how they communicate and react to o Maybe it'south because I listened instead of read information technology, maybe information technology's because I'grand just not the biggest fan of dystopian societies, just this volume is not a "must read" but it is an enjoyable easy to follow story line. But more than than that, I call up the real beauty in the story line is agreement biological science vs. environs and how that causes someone to develop their personality and how they communicate and react to others.

Matt is a fascinating character, he may not be "human being" to some, but he is more "man" than nigh.
